- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, sliced in rings
- 3 tsp. curry powder or sage
- 1 1/2 lb. flank steak, cut in cubes
- 1/2 lb. mushrooms (fresh or canned)
- 1 (15 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
- 1 large garlic clove, minced
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 c. water (approximately)
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. water
Directions

1Heat oil in heavy skillet. Saute onions over medium heat just until tender. Stir in curry or sage; cook 1 minute. Add beef cubes and next 5 ingredients in order listed. Continue cooking until beef cubes are lightly browned. Add enough water to barely cover beef. Cover and cook 1 1/2 hours until beef is tender. Thicken with cornstarch/water mixture. Serve over rice or noodles.
