  • 1 lb. beef flank steak
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper or 1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper (black)

    Trim off all visible fat. Cut steak lengthwise (with the grain) into thin strips (about 3/16-inch thick). Combine seasonings. Sprinkle over strips.

    Mix well. Arrange strips of meat, flat and close together, on wire racks on a shallow cookie sheet.

    Bake in a slow oven at 175° for 4 hours or until dry and almost crisp.

    Cool on paper towels.

    Store in airtight jars and keep in refrigerator.
