Ingredients

  • 3 lb. chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 onions, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. beef consomme
  • 1 1/2 c. beer
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. parsley
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 1/2 tsp. thyme

Directions

    Brown meat, onions and garlic in butter.

    Add flour.

    Mix well to coat beef.

    Add consomme and beer.

    Season with rest of ingredients.

    Bake in 300° oven until meat is tender, about 3 hours.
