Beef Pot Pie With Cornmeal Cheese Crust Recipe

  • 1 lb Chuck steak, cut in pcs
  • 1 Tbsp. Oil
  • 1 x Bell pepper, minced
  • 1 med Onion, minced
  • 1 can (7.5-ounce) tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/4 c. Tomato paste
  • 1 x -(up to)
  • 2 x Jalapenos, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. Chili pwdr
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 2 c. Cool water
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 x Recipe cornmeal crust (see recipe)
  • 1/2 c. Shredded cheese

    Brown beef in oil.

    Cook pepper and onion in drippings till tender.

    Add in beef, tomatoes, paste, pepper, chili pwdr, sugar, water and salt (NOTE: This may be too much water, start with much less and add in more if necessary-the recipe wasn't clear!).

    Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour till beef is tender.

    Spoon into a 10x6x2-inch baking dish.

    Cover with crust.

    Cut slits in top.

    Bake, uncovered, at 425 degrees for 20 min.

    Sprinkle with cheese and let stand 5 min before serving.
