- 2 lb. stew beef (lean)
- 1/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 c. hot water
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 1/8 tsp. thyme
- 6 carrots, peeled
- 6 onions, peeled
- 6 potatoes, peeled
- 1 c. sliced celery
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Combine flour and salt; roll meat in mixture.

2Put oil in pot; heat.

3Add stew meat and brown slowly.

4Add water, tomato sauce and seasonings.

5Cover tightly and simmer for 1 1/4 hours.

6Cut vegetables in quarters.

7Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

8Add vegetables and celery to the stew; cover and simmer an additional hour.
