Ingredients

  • 1 small pkg. lean stewing beef, cut into bite sizes
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 medium red skin potatoes
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 (15 oz.) can chopped tomatoes
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch and 3 Tbsp. water or use 1/4 c. Wondra with no water added

Directions

    In a 4-quart pot, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat with no lid.

    Place beef cubes in and braise meat until all juices are cooked out (takes about 10 to 15 minutes).

    Let beef cubes cook until bottom of pan has brown crusty bits (this helps make the gravy).

    Add 2 cups water (or until meat is covered with water).

    Add chopped onions. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
