Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. beef stewing meat
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. hot fat
  • 1 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1/2 c. cut up carrots
  • 1/2 c. cut up turnips
  • 1/2 c. cut up celery
  • 1/2 c. whole tiny onions
  • 2 c. cubed potatoes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 Tbsp. minced parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme

Directions

    Cut meat into 1-inch cubes.

    Roll in seasoned flour.

    Brown in hot fat in heavy kettle.

    Cover with hot water and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

    Add other ingredients. Simmer for an additional 30 minutes.
