  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 3 to 4 lb. stew beef
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c. onion
  • 1/2 c. green pepper (if desired)
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 4 carrots
  • 1/2 c. celery

Directions

    Brown flour in oil, stirring to make paste.

    Add meat, salt, pepper, water and tomato sauce to gravy.

    Mix well.

    Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

    Add vegetables and simmer about 30 minutes or until tender.
