Beef-Wine Casserole

- 1 1/2 lb. beef cubes
- 1 (14 oz.) can beef consomme
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/3 c. dry red wine, plus water to make 1/2 c.
- 1/4 c. fine bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Mix the first 4 ingredients and pour in 3-quart casserole.

2Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.

3Stir into beef mixture. Cook, uncovered, about 3 hours at 300° to 325°.

4Stir occasionally. Add small amount of water if it gets thick before beef is tender. Serve over noodles, rice or with potatoes.

5Serves 6 to 8.
