- 2 c. boiling water
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 5 tsp. baking soda
- 1 qt. buttermilk
- 1 c. shortening
- 5 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. dates
- 4 c. All-Bran
- 2 c. 40% bran
- 2 c. pecans, chopped
Directions

1Add baking soda to boiling water and set aside.

2Cream shortening and sugar.

3Add eggs, flour, buttermilk, salt and water.

4Mix well, then add remaining ingredients.

5Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.

6Refrigerate dough up to 6 weeks in covered bowl. Do not stir.

7Makes 72 muffins.
