- 1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) fryer or small hen
- 2 1/2 c. reserved broth
- 1 c. cream of chicken or celery soup
- 1 stick melted margarine
- 3/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. self-rising flour
Directions

1Cook chicken until real tender.

2Remove from bones and save broth.

3Cut chicken into bite size pieces and put in 3-quart oblong baking dish.

4Put soup and broth in pot and bring to a boil.

5In bowl, combine melted margarine, pepper, flour and buttermilk.

6Mix real well into a real good batter.

7Pour broth over chicken.

8Spoon batter over top and spread over chicken.

9Bake at 400° to 425° for 25 to 30 minutes (uncovered) until brown.
