  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Place flour and sugar in a large mixing bowl.

    Place butter, cocoa, oil and water in a 2-quart saucepan and bring to boil. Pour hot liquid over dry and mix.

    Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla.

    Bake in an 11 x 16-inch pan for 20 minutes at 400°. Five minutes before cake is done, begin to prepare icing.
