- 2 lb. round steak or stewing beef
- 1 large can tomatoes
- 1 can sliced water chestnuts
- 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms
- 3/4 c. red wine
- 8 carrots
- 4 stalks celery
- 2 onions
- 3 Tbsp. fine tapioca
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cut all ingredients into bite sized pieces.

2Put into covered pot, holding mushrooms aside until last 1/2 hour of covered cooking.

3Bake covered at 325° for 2 1/2 hours.

4Stir occasionally during cooking.

5Remove cover after 2 1/2 hours and continue cooking for 1/2 hour to brown.

6Serves 6 to 8.
