  • 2 c. pure lard
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, unbeaten
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 6 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. milk or more (if needed; wine can be used instead of milk)
  • 2 tsp. whole anise seed

    Mix together real well, then add flour, a little at a time.

    Roll out about 1/2-inch thick and cut with cookie cutter.

    Bake in ungreased pan until light brown

    Dip cookies before baking in cinnamon-sugar mixture
