Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. Calumet baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
  • 1 scant c. milk (use only enough to mix together; dough should not be too sticky)

Directions

    Mix together with your hands (it helps to flour your hands first).

    Press dough out with your hands on a floured surface. Cut with glass to desired size biscuits you want.

    Bake at 450° for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.

    Serve with stew or cover with honey or syrup.
