- 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Mix flour and sugar.

2Cut in shortening until mixture is like small peas.

3Add buttermilk (more for moister biscuits; less for drier biscuits).

4Mix until mixture comes away from sides of bowl. (Should require very little mixing.)

5Knead a little and shape into biscuits.

6Bake at 450° for approximately 12 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and butter top of biscuits.
