- 3 c. presifted flour
- 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Grease baking sheet.

3Sift into mixing bowl the flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar and salt with pastry blender.

4Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.

5Beat egg lightly and add to milk.

6Add liquid to dry ingredients and blend until dough holds together.

7Turn dough onto a floured board and knead lightly.

8Roll 1-inch thick and cut into biscuits.

9Bake 12 minutes.

10Makes about 24.
