  • 2 c. sifted plain flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. fat
  • about 3/4 c. milk

Directions

    Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.

    Cut or rub in fat until well blended.

    Slowly mix in milk, using just enough to make dough that is soft but not sticky.

    Turn dough onto a floured board and knead a few strokes.

    Roll or pat to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with a biscuit cutter or cut into squares with a knife. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 450° about 15 minutes. Yields:

    about 16 2-inch biscuits.
