- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda (mix with flour)
- 1 c. plus scant of buttermilk
Directions

1Mix dry ingredients, cutting in shortening until fine crumbs. Add milk and stir with a fork until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board.

2Knead just until smooth.

3Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.

4Cut with floured cutter.

5Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

6Bake at 450° for 10 minutes or until brown.

7Makes a dozen biscuits.
