Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. maraschino cherries
- 1/2 lb. sweet chocolate bar
- 2 c. nuts
- 1 c. dates
Directions

1Beat the butter until soft and fluffy.

2Gradually add the sugar, beating well after each addition.

3Continue beating until smooth.

4Beat the eggs and add them to the butter mixture.

5Beat well.

6Sift together the salt, baking powder and flour.

7Add this gradually to the butter mixture.

8Blend well after each addition. Cut the cherries, chocolate, nuts and dates into small pieces. Stir them into the batter.

9Pour into a lightly greased 8 x 4 x 3-inch loaf pan.

10Bake at 325° for 1 hour 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
