  • 1/4 pt. Irish whiskey
  • 1/2 bottle red wine
  • 5/8 c. water
  • 2 oz. superfine sugar
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 sweet orange
  • 1 lemon
  • cinnamon, nutmeg, mace and root ginger

Directions

    Stick the cloves in the orange and roast in fireplace or bake in oven.

    Put small quantities of spices in a pan with water and boil.

    Heat the wine, but do not boil.

    Add sugar, juice and lemon.

    Leave on stove for 10 minutes.

    Strain and add nutmeg. Serve piping hot.
