- 1 stick butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 c. finely chopped black walnuts
- 4 egg whites
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar.

2Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well between each.

3Add vanilla.

4Sift dry ingredients together, reserving 1/4 cup.

5Add the creamed mixture alternately with milk.

6Mix together remaining flour and the walnuts; add to batter and mix just until blended.

7Beat egg whites.

8Pour into 8-inch cake pans or one 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.

9Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes for cake pans or 50 to 60 minutes for loaf pan.
