  • 1 c. lard
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. blackberries (as they come)
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Cream sugar and lard.

    Beat in eggs; add blackberries.

    Sift flour, soda, spices and salt together.

    Then add to first mixture. Beat 3 minutes.

    Bake in 2 large or 3 small layer pans for 30 minutes at 350°.

    Frost with Caramel Icing.
