- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 c. blackberry jam without seeds (use good quality)
Directions

1Stir baking soda into buttermilk; set aside.

2In large mixer bowl, cream butter or margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beat well.

3In medium bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg; add alternately with buttermilk to egg mixture, beginning and ending with flour.

4Stir in jam.

5Bake at 350° until done.

6Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
