- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, plus more for greasing pan (1 Stick)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 350.

2Grease an 8 inch square baking pan, or line it with aluminum foil and grease the foil.

3Melt the butter over low heat.

4Transfer to a bowl and use an electric mixer to beat in the sugar until very smooth, then beat the egg and vanilla, stirring down the sides of the bowl every now and again.

5Add the salt, then gently stir in the flour.

6Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until just barely set in the middle.

7Its better to under bake brownies than to overbake them.

8Cool on a wire rack before cutting.

9Store, covered at room temperature, for no more than a day.
