Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 -2 stalk celery, chopped
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 dash hot sauce (optional)
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
Directions

1In a large pot cook bacon until crisp.

2Transfer bacon to paper towels to drain. When cool enough to handle crumble the bacon. Discard all but 2 tablespoons of the drippings.

3Saute the onions and celery in the pan drippings until soft, about 8 minutes.

4Add the broth, tomatoes, Worcestershire, garlic powder, parsley, pepper, thyme, and hot sauce if desired; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

5Serve immediately topped with bacon and shredded lettuce.
