- 5 slices bacon
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 head cabbage, sliced into thin strips
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 pinch white sugar
Directions

1Place the bacon in a large pot or Dutch oven and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes.

2Drain the bacon slices on paper towels and reserve drippings in the pot.

3Melt butter in bacon drippings in the pot over medium heat.

4Stir cabbage, onion, salt, pepper, and sugar into butter and bacon drippings.

5Cover the pot.

6Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage and onion are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.

7Crumble bacon into cooked cabbage.
