- 1 c. raisins
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 3/4 c. liquor
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Boil the raisins in 1 1/2 cups water for 20 minutes.

2Should be 3/4 cup liquid when done. Separate juice from raisins and cool. Cream the sugar and butter. Add egg and keep on beating. Alternately add flour, spices and liquid until well mixed.

3Fold in nuts and raisins.

4Bake in a 9-inch square greased pan or 7 x 11-inch pan at 350° until done. Frost with plain butter frosting.
