- 1 3/4 c. sifted flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1/3 c. raisins
- 1 egg, beaten well
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 3/4 c. molasses
- 3/4 c. walnuts
Directions

1Sift flour, soda, salt and sugar.

2Add whole wheat flour; mix well.

3Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.

4Add combined egg, milk and molasses to dry ingredients.

5Mix only until flour is dampened.

6Turn into 2 greased loaf pans or round tins.

7Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes.
