- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 2 Tbsp. Spry or other shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/4 c. flour (don't sift)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. nuts
Directions

1Put water and raisins in large pan; boil for 5 minutes (cool).

2While still warm, add all other ingredients.

3Mix together well.

4Add nuts last.

5Grease cans fully to top.

6Half fill them.

7Bake

8until well brown in 350° oven for 45 to 60 minutes.

9Cool for short time.

10While still warm, tip out of can on wax paper.

11(Use 3 or 4 No. 2 cans, vegetable or fruit.)
