- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 c. corn meal
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. molasses
- nuts, raisins, blueberries (optional)
Directions

1Mix all ingredients.

2Fill greased empty tin or aluminum cans half full (frozen fruit juice cans or soup cans are best).

3Cover with a piece of foil.

4Place in a large boiler and fill boiler with water halfway up cans.

5Boil until bread is firm on top, about 40 minutes. Remove from cans.

6Keeps well in refrigerator. Delicious sliced and buttered or toasted.
