Braised Apple Dumplings

- 10 slices white bread
- 1/2 c. Mazola margarine
- 4 to 5 medium size apples, pared, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/4 c. raisins
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 c. dark Karo syrup
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp. chopped walnuts
Directions

1Remove crust from bread.

2Melt Mazola in a large skillet.

3Add bread and toss lightly.

4Cook over medium heat, turning often until toasted.

5Add apples, raisins, cinnamon

6and syrup; toss to coat.

7Cover and cook over low heat for 30 minutes, tossing occasionally, turning once or twice until apples are tender. Sprinkle with brown sugar and chopped walnuts.

8Yields 6 to 8 servings.
