- 1 c. soft shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla
- 2 c. (1/2 lb.) cut-up Brazil nuts
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. coconut
Directions

1Cut each nut into 3 or 4 pieces.

2In mixing bowl, mix together shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.

3Sift together the flour, soda and salt; add to sugar mixture.

4Mix well.

5Stir in nuts and coconut.

6Drop by teaspoons onto baking sheets.

7Bake about 12 to 15 minutes in moderate (350°) oven.

8Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
