- 1 1/2 c. crumbled bread
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 3 c. scalded milk
Directions

1Combine the crumbs and milk; bring to boiling point.

2Add the butter and stir into the egg and sugar, beaten until light in the baking dish.

3Add vanilla.

4Place baking dish in a pan of hot water and bake at 350° until a knife inserted in center comes out clean, about 45 minutes (raisins can be added 1 cup).
