  • 2 c. dry bread cubes
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 qt. milk, scalded
  • 4 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Bring milk to a scald, soak bread 5 minutes in this.

    Add butter, salt and sugar.

    Pour slowly over eggs; add vanilla and mix well.

    Pour into 3 to 4-quart stainless steel mixing bowl. Bake in pan of hot water at 350° until firm.
