  • 2 c. milk
  • 4 c. coarse bread crumbs (about 6 slices bread)
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted
  • 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. raisins

    Heat milk to scalding and pour over bread crumbs. Cool and add remaining ingredients. Mix well.

    Pour in a 1 1/2 to 2-quart casserole (will be very watery). Cook at 350° for 1 hour (until knife comes out clean; will be puffy and will sink in center as it cools).
