  • 1 c. stale bread
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 c. sugar
  • dash of nutmeg
  • raisins (optional)
  • 2 c. hot milk
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Put the bread and milk in a buttered baking dish and let stand a few minutes.

    Mix the egg, sugar and salt.

    Add vanilla.

    Add to first mixture.

    Dot the top with butter and bake at 350° until the top is brown.
