Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 2 c. bread cubes
  • 4 c. milk, scalded
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 4 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

    Scald milk first, remove from heat and soak bread in milk for 5 minutes.

    Add butter, salt and sugar.

    Pour slowly over eggs; add vanilla and mix well.

    Pour into greased baking dish.

    Bake in pan of hot water in moderate oven (350°) until firm, about 50 minutes.

    Serve warm with Lemon Sauce or Raisin Sauce.

    Add 1/2 cup seeded raisins, if desired.
