  • bread cubes to cover 9 x 12-inch pan 1 1/2 inches thick
  • 1 qt. milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. raisins or dates (optional)

Directions

    Cover the bottom of a 9 x 12-inch pan with bread cubes, possibly two layers.

    Pour over this the remaining ingredients; sprinkle a dash of cinnamon on top.

    Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350° or until set.
