Bread Pudding

  • 6 slices day-old bread
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. moist raisins
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 3 c. scalded milk
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Toast the bread and spread with the 2 Tbsp. butter while still hot.

    Arrange toast in a buttered pan and sprinkle with the raisins.

    Beat the eggs, add salt and all but 2 Tbsp. of sugar. Add the milk and stir to mix.

    Pour over the toast and let stand for 10 minutes.

    Press the toast down so that it soaks up most of the milk mixture.

    Mix the cinnamon with 2 Tbsp. of sugar and sprinkle over the top.

    Bake in a 350° oven about 25 minutes, until top is brown.

    Serves 5 or 6.
