  • 10 slices day old bread (in pieces)
  • 4 c. milk, scalded
  • 1 c. cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted
  • 1/2 c. seedless raisins

    Combine bread, milk and cream.

    Beat eggs.

    Add sugar and mix well.

    Stir into bread mixture and add vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

    Stir in butter and raisins.

    Pour into buttered 2-quart casserole and set in pan of water about 1-inch deep.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until knife comes out clean.

    Serve with sauce.
