- 1/3 cup butter
- 3 squares (3 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup, plus 1 tablespoon Kahlua
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

2Grease a 9 x 9-inch baking pan.

3Melt the butter and chocolate in the top of a double boiler over boiling water.

4Let cool slightly.

5Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

6Beat the eggs with the sugar until light.

7Stir in the chocolate mixture and 1/2 cup of the Kahlua, then add the flour mixture and blend.

8Stir in the nuts.

9Turn the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes.

10When the brownies have cooled, brush the top with the remaining 1 tablespoon of Kahlua.
