Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine (1 c.)
  • 2 c. granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 3 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Cream butter.

    Add sugar; mix well.

    Add beaten egg yolks; blend until light yellow.

    Sift flour 3 times.

    Add a little flour and milk alternately until you have used 2/3 of the flour.

    Mix baking powder with remainder of the flour; continue with the rest of the milk.

    Mix thoroughly.

    Fold in beaten egg whites and vanilla.

    Use 9-inch pans.

    Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes. Frost with favorite icing.
