Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. almonds, whole and unblanched
  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. Contreau
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. mandarin peel, chopped

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Toast the almonds for a few minutes until they are golden.

    Let cool, chop.

    Reduce oven temperature to 325°.

    Cream butter, add sugar and beat until smooth and creamy.

    Beat in the eggs, add mandarin peel, Contreau and cinnamon. Mix flour, baking powder and salt.

    Beat flour mixture in with butter mixture.

    Stir in chopped almonds.
