- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 small garlic clove, finely chopped
- 12 teaspoon gingerroot, freshly grated
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon pepper
- 12 cup water
- 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 5 cups broccoli florets
Directions

1In a small bowl, whisk the vinegar, sugar, garlic, ginger, salt and pepper.

2Add the oil and set aside.

3Place the (raw) broccoli in a deep saucepan.

4Pour in 1/2 C water, cover and set over medium-high heat.

5Cook until tips of the florets are tender but the stems are still firm when pierced, about 5 minutes.

6Remove from heat and add the balsamic mixture, pouring it down the side of the pot so it mixes with the cooking water.

7Return the pot to the heat and cook, stirring, until the liquid has almost completely evaporated.

8Serve immediately.
