  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 3 c. flour (plain)
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. buttermilk

    Beat egg whites.

    Mix butter or margarine with sugar.

    Beat in egg yolks; mix well.

    Mix flour, soda and salt together and add alternately with milk.

    Add vanilla.

    Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in 4 layers at 350° for 30 minutes.
