  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. shortening (part butter)
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

    Cream butter; add sugars and cream again.

    Sift dry ingredients and alternate with milk.

    Bake in greased and floured pan for 1 1/2 hours at 300° to 325°.
