- 1 bay leaf
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 strip bacon
- 1 can tomato puree
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 3/4 c. chopped green pepper
Directions

1Soak beans overnight.

2Add bay leaf, garlic, onions, salt and bacon.

3Simmer slowly until done.

4Add tomato puree, dry mustard, oregano, brown sugar, chili powder and green pepper.

5Simmer 30 minutes longer.
