- 5 or 6 (3-inch) white Spanish onions
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 3 whole cloves
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Burgundy wine
Directions

1Cut onions into 1/4-inch slices.

2This should be about 2-quarts. Separate the slices into rings.

3Heat butter in skillet. Add onions, tossing them about with a wooden spoon until rings are coated with butter.

4Add cloves and salt. Continue to cook over low heat until onions just start to brown. Add wine. Cover pan and simmer about 15 minutes.

5Onions should be slightly crisp but tender.

6Remove cover and cook until wine is reduced to a glaze. Serve at once. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
