- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 5 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- enough buttermilk to make a soft dough
Directions

1Sift together all dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening until it resembles cornmeal.

3Add enough buttermilk to make a soft dough.

4Knead lightly 3 or 4 times.

5Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness on a floured board.

6Cut and place on biscuit sheet. Bake in a 450° oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

7Yields 12 large biscuits.
